The Museum

  • Plans for the Museum 2010

Nyksund As and “Museum Nord” has together summarized 2009 season and concluded that the museum will be normally closed this winter, except if you are engaging a tour by a Vesteraalen guide. We have received a lot of enthusiastic feedback on the old pictures covering the walls. These display Nyksund’s architecture development from approx 1850 until 1970. In addition our visitors are mentioning our skilled guide who has been gifted giving the visitors a true and exciting story. At last we have some unique films showing Nyksund as it was and as it worked. “Museum Nord” will build on this experience and implement improvements and expansion of the exhibition for next years opening. We will on this web page submit information on next years opening

  • New museum in Nyksund

We are providing a new museum to Nyksund this summer, a museum with intension to tell the story about this small fishing village on the extreme coast of Vesteraalen. You will find pictures of old architecture and buildings and our host will tell you stories of how people lived and survived on the sea and working onshore. Nyksund has also been called "the goast town", but is now like a bird phoenix about to get up from the ashes.

We can also offer shortfilms illustrating the history.

If you like a cup of tea or coffee, or maybe a glas of wine or beer we will be delighted to serve you
